Activities and visits in southern Ardèche

Discover the heritage and landscapes of the Ardèche

The Joyeuse region, in the south of the Ardèche, is full of picturesque villages and wonderful landscapes. The region is renowned for its caves and unspoilt natural environment.
Not to be missed is the charming village of Balazuc, classified as one of France's most beautiful villages, with its cobbled streets and stone houses. Not far away is the village of Labeaume, nestled in a cliff-lined valley. Further north, don't miss Vogüé, with its medieval castle overlooking the River Ardèche.
Finally, the region also offers superb canyons, such as the Gorges de l'Ardèche, where you can hike or canoe on the water.

Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities

The southern Ardèche and the Cévennes ardéchoises offer a wealth of opportunities for outdoor activities. Whether you like hiking, mountain biking, climbing or canoeing, you're sure to find something to suit you in this highly touristic département.
The scenery is magnificent, ranging from wooded mountains with numerous crystal-clear rivers (for fishing) to deep, vertiginous canyons carved out of the limestone. And for those who prefer a more tranquil experience, there are plenty of places to relax by the water (swimming), picnic in the heart of nature or visit a cave flanked by cave drawings (grotte Chauvet II).
Whatever your choice, there are plenty of opportunities to get out into the fresh air in the southern Ardèche, promising unforgettable moments in the heart of nature.
